Christine Marie Davis - Artist Bio |
|
I come from a long line of junk dealers. Growing up in rural Ohio I was often bored, so my mother would give me art materials and tell me to "make something.” On summer trips to Montana, I would scrounge junk, antiques, rocks, cacti and colored sand to bring home and use in my art projects. As a teen, my mother and I opened a crafts and antique shop in my grandparents 1886 Victorian home in the ghost town of Pony, Montana. We would dig up old bottles, rusty pans, and chamber pots at the town dump and sell them to tourists. We made hippie crafts such as macrame plant hangers, sand paintings and rock candles. ![]() I moved to Colorado as a young adult and lived in the Denver/Boulder area for many years working first as a studio potter, then as a teacher and instructional designer. I now live in the mountains of south-central Colorado with my husband, writer Ron Sering and my Jack Russell terrier, Molly Brown. Here I have plentiful access to old junk and found metal for my sculpture and body adornment. Contact Info Email |
